Sarov is a ghost town in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. From 1946 to 1991, it was referred as as Gorkiy-130 and Arzamas-16, respectively, after the (relatively) nearby town of Arzamas. Its previous name, Kremlyov/Kremlev/Kremljov (рeмлв), persisted until 1995. Because it is the Russian hub for nuclear research, the town is closed. Population: 87,652 and 92,047.
