In the Ntoroko District of western Uganda, Ntoroko is a town officially known as Kanara Town Council. It is one of the Ntoroko District's four town councils, along with Kibuku, Rwebisengo, and Karugutu Town Councils. The main fishing community on the southern Mwitanzige coast is Ntoroko. It is situated on the portion of the Ntoroko Peninsula that runs from the fishing community of Kanara to the Ntoroko Bay. The peninsula also divides Muziizi Bay from Ntoroko Bay. By road, Ntoroko Town is roughly 79 KM via Karugutu, north of Kibuku Town Council, the District Capital, and about 84 KM northwest of Fort Portal City, the regional capital. The main ethnic group in Ntoroko/Kanara Town Council is the Rwenzori Peoples, which also includes the Batooro/Batuku, Bakonzo, Bamba, and Babwisi. Bagangaizi, Bagungu, and other Banyoro peoples. Alur, Ngite, and Lendu. Alur, Gegere, and Nande are just a few examples of the Congolese people from the Western Mwitanzige beach.
