The Old Warrior, also known as José Eloy Alfaro Delgado, was an Ecuadorian politician who presided over Ecuador from 1895 to 1901 and from 1906 to 1911. Eloy Alfaro rose to prominence as the Liberal Party's leader and became an advocate for fairness, justice, and liberty. He developed into one of the most ardent critics of conservative pro-Catholic President Gabriel Garca Moreno (1821–1875).
