Saryer is the northernmost neighbourhood in Istanbul, Turkey, and is located on the city's European side. The vast Saryer district is made up of all the settlements on the European side of the Bosphorus, from Rumelifeneri to Rumelihisar via Tarabya, Yeniköy, "stinye," and Emirgan. In addition, Saryer is in charge of the Kilyos settlement and the Black Sea coast to the west of the Bosphorus. Eyüp, Beşiktaş, and Kathane are its neighbours to the northwest, south, and west, respectively. The population of Saryer is perhaps about 260,000. ükrü Genç, a member of the Republican People's Party, is the mayor (CHP). In 1930, some areas of Beyolu and Talca were combined, and Saryer was designated as the district centre. After the villages of Maslak and Ayazaa were handed to the Işli district in 1954 and the county of Kemerburgaz was ceded to the Eyüp district in 1936, the district limits shrank. After joining the boroughs of Maslak, Ayaza, and Huzur from the Işli district in 2012, Saryer has its current boundaries.
