In the state of Jalisco in the centre of Mexico, Tepatitlán de Morelos is a city and municipality that dates back to 1530. About 70 kilometres to the east of Guadalajara, the state capital, it is situated in the Los Altos de Jalisco neighbourhood. It belongs to the Bajo macroregion. A 1,532.78 km2 municipality of the same name was located nearby. The parish church built in the Baroque style and dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi is the city's most recognisable feature. The city hall, the Temple of San Antonio, and the kiosk on the Plaza de Armas in the centre of the city are further noteworthy locations. The latter, constructed in neoclassic-baroque style, is one of the city's most recognisable landmarks.
