On Ghana's Atlantic coast and the Bight of Benin, there is a city called Tema. It is the seat of the Tema Metropolitan District and is situated 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of Accra, the country's capital. The city is immediately traversed by the Greenwich Meridian. Due to its role as Ghana's main seaport, Tema is known locally as the "Harbour City."
