Stretford is a market town located in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, between the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal. It is 3.0 miles (4.8 kilometres) south of Salford, 4.2 miles (6.8 kilometres) northeast of Altrincham, and 3.8 miles (6.1 kilometres) south of Manchester's downtown. Stretford is bordered to the east by Chorlton-cum-Hardy, to the southeast by Moss Side and Whalley Range, to the northeast by Hulme, to the west by Urmston, to the north by Salford, and to the south by Sale. The town is divided by the Bridgewater Canal.
