Senglea, often called Città Invicta, is a fortified city located in Malta's south-eastern region. With a population of about 2,720, it is one of the Three Cities in the Grand Harbour region, along with Cospicua and Vittoriosa. Città Invicta is the name given to the city in honour of its ability to repel the Ottoman invasion during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565. The city of Senglea bears a portion of the name of the Grand Master who created it, Claude de la Sengle. While Senglea is the 52nd most populated locality on the island, due to its incredibly small land area, it is the 2nd most densely populated locality after Sliema.
