Along the Pyapon River, a tributary of the Ayeyarwady River, Pyapon is a town and the administrative centre of Pyapon District in the Ayeyarwady Division of Myanmar. It is situated about 75 miles (121 km) south of the previous capital, Yangon, and about 9.3 miles (15 km) inland from the Andaman Sea. In 2021, there will be roughly 65,601 people living there. It acts as a hub for the collection of rice from the nearby agricultural areas and is also home to a Siemens-made diesel-powered power plant.
