Norilsk is a city in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. It is situated 1,500 kilometres north of Krasnoyarsk, 90 kilometres east of the Yenisey River, and south of the western Taymyr Peninsula. Norilsk is 2,400 kilometres from the North Pole and 300 kilometres from the Arctic Circle. 182,701 people call it home permanently as of 2021, and up to 220,000 people when transient residents are included. After Krasnoyarsk, it is the second-largest city in the area. The population of Norilsk has increased steadily since 2016. For the first time, migration into the city surpassed outflow in 2017. In 2018, natural population increase reached to 1,357 people, according to Krasnoyarskstat: 2,381 people were born, while 1,024 people passed away.
