The multiethnic municipal town of Migori, often called Suna-Migori, serves as the county seat of Migori County, Kenya. The town is 22 kilometres north of the Tanzanian border and 63 kilometres south of Kisii metropolis. The Migori Municipality and the surrounding smaller towns make up the Migori Metropolitan region. According to the 2019 national census, which was sponsored by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the region is divided into three constituencies: Suna East, Suna West, and Uriri, with a combined population of 393,012. Awendo, a nearby town or constituency, has 96,872 residents, while Kuria East (Sirare) has 117, 290. The town (proper), according to The Star newspaper, had a population of about 100,000 people in 2010.
