Luzhou 硬币

A prefecture-level city in southeast Sichuan Province, China, Luzhou (simplified Chinese: ; traditional Chinese: ; pinyin: Lzhu; Sichuanese Pinyin: Nu2zou1; Luzhou dialect: [nutsu]) was historically transliterated as Lu-chou or Luchow. The city is referred to as the "Liquor City" (), but it was known as Jiangyang until the Southern and Northern Dynasties. Luzhou, which is located where the Tuo River and the Yangtze River meet, is not only a significant port on the Yangtze River but also the port with the highest output since Chongqing's separation from Sichuan province in 1997. 4,254,149 people called it home as of the 2020 Chinese census, 1,241,273 of whom resided in the built-up (or metro) region made up of Jiangyang and Longmatan districts, while Naxi district has not yet been conurbated. As the unique geographic intersection of the four provinces, Luzhou, which borders Yunnan, Guizhou, and Chongqing, was the obvious location for a port in ancient China. Luzhou became the seat of government for the province of southern Sichuan after the PRC was established in 1949. Luzhou received administrative approval to become a prefecture-level city in 1983.
