The town of Luqa is situated in Malta's Southern Region, 4.3 kilometres from Valletta, the country's capital. It is a tiny but densely populated community that is typical of Malta's oldest towns and villages, with a population of 5,945 as of March 2014. The city of Luqa is centred around a central square with a church honouring St. Andrew. The traditional feast of the patron saint is held on the first Sunday in July, while the liturgical feast is held on November 30. In Luqa, there is the Malta International Airport.
