Gashua is a community in Yobe State in northeastern Nigeria, on the Yobe River a few miles below the convergence of the Hadejia River and the Jama'are River. The average elevation is 299 metres. The population was roughly 125,000 in 2006. The two hottest months, with average highs of 38 to 40 degrees Celsius, are March and April. Temperatures drop to 23–28°C and there is 500–1000mm of precipitation during the rainy season, which lasts from June to September.
