Fier, the administrative centre of Fier County and Fier Municipality, is the seventh-most populous city in the Republic of Albania. Between the Seman in the north, the Vjos in the south, and the foothills of the Mallakastra Mountains in the southeast, it is located on the bank of the Gjanica River in the Myzeqe Plain. Fier's proximity to the Adriatic Sea in the west results in a seasonal Mediterranean climate.
