Koin Kisumu

After Nairobi, the nation's capital, and Mombasa, a coastal city, Kisumu ranks third in terms of population, making it the biggest city in Kenya to the west of Nairobi. In the Lake Victoria Basin, it is the third-largest city. Kogelo, the community where Barack Obama Sr., the 44th president of the United States, was born, is not far from Kisumu. Kisumu is the cultural hub for the Luo-speaking population of East Africa. For residents of the Kavirondo region, it was the most significant urban centre during the pre-colonial, post-colonial, and contemporary eras. The famous political spat between Kenya's first president Jomo Kenyatta and first vice president Jaramogi Odinga during the opening of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in 1969 is just one of the significant political incidents that took place in Kisumu and helped shape Kenya's political history. It is not just a significant political metropolis but also one of Kenya's top commercial and industrial hubs. The city's downtown and lower town are currently undertaking an urban renewal project that involves updating the lakefront, decongesting major thoroughfares, and making the streets pedestrian-friendly.
