Koin Baharampur

A city and municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal is called Berhampore. The Berhampore urban agglomeration was the seventh-largest city in West Bengal as of the 2011 Census, with a population of 305,609. The Murshidabad district's administrative centre is located at Berhampore. About 200 kilometres (124 miles) separate it from Kolkata, the state's capital. It is one of India's most significant centres for business, administration, education, and politics. Since 1999, this city has produced Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha. It is one of the most well-known urban agglomerations in the state of West Bengal. It served as the East India Company's initial hub in India. In addition to the British, the Dutch and the French also founded their businesses in this city, which led to its expansion as India's production centre. It is well known for its delicious pastries, including Chanabora, Manohara, Rasgulla, and many others. Five administrative regions make up the city: Gora Bazar, Khagra, Indraprastha, Cossimbazar, and Haridasmati. The Berhampore Cantonment area served as a staging area for the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Many international traders used it as the centre of their production. Many janpadas, including Saidabad, Farasdanga, and Kalikapur, had achieved fame before becoming cities. Additionally, Cossimbazar's muslin clothing had gained worldwide recognition. Up until 1875, this city served as the administrative centre for the Rajshahi region.
